Lexington Legends News Release

Peter Tago pitched seven strong innings in his professional debut as the Asheville Tourists took a 3-2 win over the Lexington Legends Friday night in Asheville.

The game was scoreless with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Bryce Massanari reached on an error by shortstop by Ben Orloff. Dustin Garneau followed with a double off the wall in right field, sending Massanari to third. Kyle Parker's single scored one run, and a sacrifice fly by Helder Velasquez brought Garneau in, giving Asheville a 2-0 lead.

The Legends got one back in the fifth on Chris Wallace's ninth home run of the year, and then tied the game with a run in the seventh. With one out, Wallace walked, advanced to second when Mike Kvasnicka grounded out, and scored on a single by Daniel Adamson.

Asheville broke the tie with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Brett Tanos was hit by a pitch to open the inning. After Jason Chowning relieved starter Ruben Alaniz, singles by Russell Wilson and Cristhian Adames loaded the bases. Rafael Ortega's sacrifice fly scored Tanos with the tie-breaking run.

Tago (1-0), a supplemental first round pick by Colorado in 2010, and the 47th overall pick in the draft, gave up four hits and two runs in seven innings while walking one batter and striking out five. Alaniz (2-3) took the loss. He allowed three hits and three runs in six innings, walked one and struck out six. The series continues Saturday. Game time is 6:05 p.m.
