Fifth Straight Win as Rome Tops Hickory

Rome, GA -The Rome Braves defeated the Hickory Crawdads 6-5 before 2,492 fans at State Mutual Stadium. It was Rome's fifth straight win.

Hickory jumped on the board with a run in the first inning on an RBI double by Oduber Herrera. Rome tied the game in the second on an RBI single by Chris Garcia scoring Christian Bethancourt. The Crawdads took the lead back in the fourth on an RBI double by Joshua Richmond to make the score 2-1.

Hickory made it a 4-1 game in the fifth off a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Roof and an RBI single by Jurickson Profar. Rome bounced back in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs giving the Braves a 5-4 advantage. Garcia walked to lead off the inning and later scored on David Rohm's second homerun of the season. Hilton Richardson later walked and moved to third on a Matt Lipka double. Elmer Reyes then singled to score two runs making it a 5-4 game.

The Braves added another run in the sixth on an RBI double by Garcia making the score 6-4. Hickory scored a single run in the ninth but the Rome bullpen held on to secure Rome's fifth consecutive victory, 6-5. Reyes, Garcia, Rohm all had two RBI on the night.

Braves pitcher David Filak (2-3) gets the win, while Colby Killian (2-1) gets the loss. Tyler Hess gets his third save of the year for Rome.
