Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 20, 2011) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators will play a doubleheader against the Hagerstown Suns on Monday, May 30, at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium to make up the rained out second game of Thursday's twin bill in Hagerstown. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. with Game 2 starting approximately a half hour after the conclusion of Game 1. Tickets for Monday, May 30, are good for admission to both games.
The Intimidators took the second game of their series in Hagerstown, 6-1, against the Suns on Thursday before rain and unplayable field conditions forced the postponement of the scheduled second game. The Suns got on the board first with Randolph Oduber's RBI-single in the first inning, but the Intimidators returned fire in the second with a four-run frame.
Kevin Dubler singled to score Juan Silverio, and Trayce Thompson reached on a fielding error that brought in Drew Lee. Ross Wilson came through with a two-run double to cash Dubler and Thompson for a 4-1 Intimidators lead. Wilson finished the game 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Lee also went 2-for-3 and drove in a run for the Intimidators.
Ryan Buch tossed all five innings of the rain-shortened game for Kannapolis, allowing 1 run on 2 hits with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Buch (4-3) earned the win while Hagerstown's A.J. Cole (0-2) was tagged with the loss.
Hagerstown's Bryce Harper, last year's No. 1 overall draft pick by the Washington Nationals, went 1-for-6 with a double and run scored in the two-game series against the Intimidators. On the season, Harper is among lead leaders batting .358 with 9 home runs and 31 RBI.
The Intimidators return from a seven-game road trip to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium tonight to begin a four-game series against Delmarva. The ballpark is located just off I-85 at exit 63. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at (704) 932-3267 or by going online to www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
