Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - Spokane Chiefs forward Mathis Preston is already putting NHL scouts on notice three games into the new season as he earns the Chiefs' first Ironworker of the Month recognition for 2025-26. The top 2026 NHL Draft prospect has stacked up seven points in three games, including three goals.
Preston got off to a hot start, notching a goal and three assists in the Chiefs' season opener against the Kelowna Rockets on September 19. He stayed hot the next night in Kamloops as he scored a goal and an assist against the Blazers.
Despite taking a high stick to the face in the first period in Saturday's home opener against the Tri-City Americans, Preston found the twine in the third period as he slammed a shot home off a feed from Owen Schoettler to give Spokane a 2-0 lead.
The Penticton native currently leads the team in points (7) and is tied for the lead in both goals (3) and assists (4).
