Spokane, WA - The Chiefs returned to the ice on Friday night, hosting Prince George for the first of back-to-back games against the Cougars this weekend.

The first period was physical and hectic with Carter Esler making 14 saves to preserve a 0-0 game. The second period was more even with Spokane finding the net first. Chiefs overager Sam Oremba put away his second of the season, chipping in the loose puck. Sarkenov and Gillespie provided the assists.

Later in the second, Terik Parascak found room behind the defense and slotted past Esler for his first goal of the season after returning from Washington Capitals NHL Preseason action.

It was a tight contest down the stretch, but it was former Chief Kooper Gizowski finding the game winning goal on the power play at 12:22 to give the Cougars the win.

Spokane went 0/5 on the power play while the penalty kill went 1/6. It was a stop start game with 21 total penalties called. Esler was excellent in net, making 35 saves and earning second star of the night.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow night in the rematch, with doors open at 5 PM and puck drop set for 6:05 PM. Get your tickets for Educator Appreciation Night presented by The Centennial Hotel and score a limited edition Spokane Chiefs Drink Tumbler.
