Harrisburg Senators News Release

Jesus Valdez doubled in Brad Coon in the 10th inning, and the Harrisburg Senators won a barnburner over the Bowie Baysox on Thursday night, by a final score of 10-9. The win gave the Senators (23-24) a split in the four-game series.

The Senators had a 9-5 lead after Michael Martinez hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Baysox (23-24) scored three in the eighth, and one in the ninth, to tie the score at 9 and send the game to extra innings.

The two teams exploded offensively in the game, scoring a combined 19 runs on 28 hits. Martinez was the offensive standout for the Senators, as he homered, tripled, and singled, driving in five runs and scoring one. Brad Coon and Marvin Lowrance also homered in the game; Coon finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Lowrance walked three times and scored three runs. Edgardo Baez also recorded two hits, and drove in two runs.

Cole Kimball (1-0) picked up the win for the Senators, in his very first AA appearance. He threw a scoreless 10th inning. Former Senator Mike Hinckley (0-1) took the loss, recording just one out in the bottom of the 10th, and allowing a hit and two walks.

The Senators start a four-game series against the Erie Sea Wolves on Friday night in Erie, as they begin a seven-game road trip. Right-hander Jason Jones is scheduled to make his first start for the Senators, and will oppose LHP Andy Oliver (4-2, 3.64) of the Sea Wolves. Radio coverage of the game begins at 6:20 PM, on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com, with the first pitch set for 6:35.
