
Fisher Cats Win 8-6 At New Britain

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
New Britain, CT- Eric Thames fell a double short of a cycle, driving in two runs and David Cooper homered and drove in two runs as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats edged the New Britain Rock Cats 8-7 on Thursday afternoon at New Britain Stadium.
Both teams had trouble holing leads throughout the afternoon. Callix Crabbe led off the game for the Fisher Cats with a walk and scored on a triple by Thames (3-for-5, HR, 3B, 2 RBI) to right-center. Brad Emaus then reached on an error, as Thames scored, to give the Fisher Cats a 2-0 lead.
The Rock Cats cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning. Steve Singleton walked and Ben Revere (4-for-4) doubled him to third base. Singleton scored on a sacrifice fly by Eric Lis.
New Britain tied the game in the bottom of the second inning at 2-2. Yangervis Solarte (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) doubled and scored from second when Yancarlos Ortiz laced a single to right field.
The Fisher Cats (29-18) moved back in front in the top of the fourth inning. Adam Loewen led off with a double, Manny Mayorson bunted him to third, and he scored on a sacrifice fly by Cooper (1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI).
New Britain (13-33) would tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Solarte walked, stole second snd scored on a single by Jair Fernandez.
Each club hit home runs in the fifth inning. Thames launched his club-leading ninth home run to put the Fisher Cats up 4-3 in the top of the inning. New Britain's Solarte hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to give the Rock Cats the lead for the first time, 5-4.
New Hampshire came back to tie in the top of the sixth inning. Manny Mayorson walked and stole second. He moved to third on a Cooper groundout and scored on a single to left by Jonathan Jaspe.
Randy Boone left after five innings after allowing five runs, all earned, on seven hits. He walked three and struck out five.
New Britain moved back in front in the bottom of the sixth inning against. Ortiz singled, Brandon Roberts singled him to third and New Britain moved ahead 6-5 on a sacrifice fly by Steve Singleton.
The Fisher Cats took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Callix Crabbe singled, Adam Calderone walked and Thames singled to left. When the ball was misplayed in left field, Crabbe scored to tie the game. Calderone, who moved to third, scored on a wild pitch to put New Hampshire up.
Cooper added an insurance run with his third home run in the top of the eighth inning to make it 8-6. New Britain tallied its final run on Solarte's sacrifice fly against Danny Farquhar in the bottom of the ninth.
Vince Bongiovanni (5-2) earned the win in relief. Trystan Magnuson and Tim Collins each worked a scoreless inning for the Fisher Cats. Farquhar picked up his 11th save, working the ninth.
