Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators are holding their first ever Diamond Dig sponsored by Mountz Jewelers on Thursday night. All women 18 and over will have the opportunity to dig for the diamond pendant after the game.

Sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday, under the cloak of darkness, Tim Foreman, Director of Stadium Facilities, and Brandon Forsburg, Head Groundskeeper, are burying the diamond pendant somewhere in the infield dirt.

"We're going to bury the diamond about four inches below the surface of the infield," according to Foreman, "then we'll hold our breath during the game and hope that it doesn't get dug up."

At the conclusion of the game, all women 18 and over will "take the field" in an effort to dug up and win the diamond pendant. The infield dirt will be sectioned off into four quadrants and every five minutes that the diamond is not found, a quadrant will be removed and the digging area will get smaller.

The diamond pendant is valued at $2,500 and features 78 prong set diamonds in 18kt white gold. The diamonds total 1.0 carat.

"The community of Central PA is fortunate to have a local baseball team that adds to the quality of life in the region," said Ron Leitzel President/CEO of Mountz Jewelers. "Mountz Jewelers is happy to sponsor a diamond dig that will hopefully be a fun event for everyone."

In addition to the Diamond Dig, Thursday night is also 2 Buck Beers on the Boardwalk courtesy of Miller Lite and 105.7 the X. Thursday night is the final game of the Senators three-game series with the Binghamton Mets. Game time Thursday is 7:00pm with the gates opening at 6:00pm.
