New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- Todd Donovan set a franchise record by stealing four bases, and he launched a solo home run that landed in the Samuel Adams Bar & Grill, helping support Kenny Rodriguez's seven innings of one-hit baseball in the New Hampshire Fisher Cats' 6-0 victory over the Bowie Baysox on Wednesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Rodriguez (2-3) was masterful in earning his first victory since July 4. The right-hander matched his career high in innings pitched, fanned a season-best nine batters, walked three and departed after retiring the final 10 hitters he faced.

Zach Dials closed out the Fisher Cats' first one-hitter since April 18, 2007, with two hitless innings of relief.

Donovan (2-for-3, HR, BB, 4 SB, 2 R) began his record-setting night by stealing second base and third base in the bottom of the third. His second homer of the season gave the Fisher Cats a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth, and he once again swiped second and third base in the seventh, coming in to score when catcher Guillermo Rodriguez's throw sailed into left, staking the Fishers to a 5-0 lead.

Donovan's 25 stolen bases rank second on New Hampshire's all-time single-season list and are good for a tie for third place on the club's all-time list (Miguel Negron-2005).

The Fisher Cats (50-60) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Bowie right-hander Pedro Beato when David Cooper (1-for-2, HR, 2 BB, 2 RBI) crushed a two-out, two-run home run, his sixth, on a 3-2 pitch with Scott Campbell (1-for-3, BB, 2 R), who singled, aboard.

New Hampshire increased the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second when Darin Mastroianni (1-for-4, SB, R) led off with an infield single, notched his 17th stolen base of the season and came around to score when Brian Jeroloman (1-for-3, RBI, BB) laced an RBI single to right.

Brad Emaus (1-for-4, RBI) closed out the scoring with an RBI single off Zach Clark in the seventh, extending his hitting streak to six games in the process.

Beato (0-1) surrendered four runs on six hits in five innings to drop the decision in his Eastern League debut for Bowie (59-51). The right-hander struck out three and walked two.

New Hampshire and Bowie wrap up their three-game series on Thursday night at 7:05pm with right-hander Adrian Martin (2-1, 3.27) getting the start for the Fisher Cats against Baysox right-hander Brandon Erbe (2-3, 2.50) at 7:05pm. Radio coverage gets underway with the BayRing Pre-Game Show at 6:45pm with Mike Murphy and Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.

Thursday night is Faith and Family Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, and an Atlas Fireworks Show follows the game. For tickets and information, visit www.nhfishercats.com or call (603) 641-2005.
