Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Aeros made a roster move today as LHP Ryan Edell has been removed from the active roster and LHP Eric Berger has been received from Class A Kinston.

Edell was just named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week after winning both starts and not allowing a run in 13 innings to Erie and Binghamton. The former eighth-round pick was 4-1 with a 2.32 ERA in 17 games for Akron (16 starts), and ranked second in the league in ERA and third with 91 strikeouts.

Berger has been Kinston's top starter all season, going 7-8 with a 2.45 ERA in a team-high 21 starts. He also led the club with an even 100 strikeouts in 110.1 innings, had walked 45, and was holding opponents to a .227 batting average. Like Edell, he ranked second in the league in ERA and third in strikeouts. Berger was Cleveland's eighth-round pick in 2008 out of the University of Arizona, and was named to the New York-Penn League All-Star team last season. He has not yet been assigned a number, and is expected to start Friday against New Britain.
