May 3, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators dropped their fourth straight on Monday evening, as the Bowie Baysox earned a come-from-behind win at Metro Bank Park, 5-3. The game was played in front of 1776 fans.

Bowie (13-12) snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win, and had to overcome a 3-0 deficit to get it. The Senators (10-14) jumped out to the 3-0 lead with single runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings, but gave up the final five runs to lose their fourth straight.

Jesus Valdez was the offensive standout for the Sens, finishing three-for-four with two RBI and a run scored. His solo home run put the Senators in front by a run in the second, and his RBI single in the fourth drove in Danny Espinosa to double the lead. The third run came across in the fifth, when Michael Daniel drove in Ofilio Castro with a groundout to make it 3-0.

Matt Chico started for the Senators, and threw four and two-thirds perfect innings before allowing his first hit. He ended up going six and one-third innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He finished with a no-decision, thanks to shaky performances from Rafael Martin and Adam Carr (3-1) out of the bullpen. Patrick Egan (2-0) pitched the final three innings for Bowie, after Tim Bascom started and threw the first six.

Game two of the four-game series between the two teams begins at 10:30 AM on Tuesday morning, and pits Jeff Mandel of the Senators (0-3, 3.54) against Zachary Britton of the Baysox (1-2, 4.32). The radio broadcast of the game begins at 10:15 AM, on 1460 AM the Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
