Fisher Cats Rally for 10-9 Win over Rock Cats for Seventh Straight

Manchester, NH - The Fisher Cats scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete a 10-9 comeback victory over New Britain Monday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

New Hampshire (17-7) batted around in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead scoring all of the runs after there were two outs. Adam Calderone (2-for-4) singled in a run to make it 9-6, Brian Jeroloman (2-for-4, 2 RBI) followed with a two-RBI single to make it 9-8, before Darin Mastroianni (3-for-4, 3B, 4 RBI) drove in two with a triple to make it 10-9 as the Fisher Cats won for the seventh straight time.

Mastroianni led off the bottom of the first inning with a single to extend his hit streak to nine games. Callix Crabbe then belted a home run to make it 2-0 Fisher Cats.

New Britain battled back to take the lead, hitting three home runs in the top of the third inning off starter Bobby Bell. Joe Benson (2-for-2 led off the third with a solo home run, Steve Singleton added a solo shot and Chris Parmelee (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) added a three-run home run to make it 5-2 Rock Cats.

The Rock Cats added a run in the top of the fourth inning. Mark Dolenc singled and moved to third on a double by Benson. Singleton singled home Dolenc to make it 6-2.

Juan Portes hit the Rock Cats fourth home run of the game, leading off the top of the fifth inning against reliever Dumas Garcia to give New Britain a 7-2 lead.

The Fisher Cats made it 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Eric Thames off Rock Cats Deolis Guerra. Guerra left after five innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out five.

New Britain went back up by five runs, 8-3, scoring on an error in the top of the sixth.

New Hampshire then began the comeback against the New Britain bullpen, cutting the deficit to 8-5 on a Mastroianni bases-loaded single off Cole Devries in the sixth.

Bubbie Buzachero (2-0) earned the win, working one inning without allowing a run. Adrian Martin pitched a perfect eighth inning and Danny Farquhar earned his seventh save, working around a ninth inning walk to Benson with three strikeouts. Chris Province (1-1) took the loss for the Rock Cats (4-19), who dropped their ninth straight game.

The homestand continues on Tuesday night at 6:35pm with the New Britain Rock Cats. LHP Luis Perez (2-1, 2.36) starts for New Hampshire against RHP Mike McCardell (0-2, 3.97). Radio coverage with Mike Murphy begins with Fisher Cats Pre-Game at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
