TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Altoona Curve will meet in the opener of a four-game series...The Flying Squirrels got another strong start from right-hander Daryl Maday cruised to a 4-1 win and series sweep of the Bowie Baysox on Sunday afternoon at The Diamond.

TONIGHT'S STARTER: Right-hander David Mixon gets the start in game one of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Earned the win for the second time in three starts after tossing a complete-game, three-hit shutout of the New Britain Rock Cats in game two of a doubleheader...Tossed a career-long seven innings...Two of the three hits he allowed came in the first inning...Following a Rene Tosoni infield single in the first inning, retired 19 of the final 21 batters he faced including retiring the final 11 batters in-a-row...Retired the leadoff batter in five of his seven innings on the mound...Recorded 11 ground outs, five strike outs, and four fly outs...Tossed the first complete game and complete-game shutout in franchise history...Is 0-for-2 at the plate with two strike outs.

Right-hander Tim Alderson gets the nod in the opener of the series for the Curve...Got his second win after giving up three runs, two earned, on seven hits in five innings on 4/27 against Akron...Struck out two and walked one...Has not thrown more than five innings in his first four starts...Has allowed 24 hits in 19 2/3 innings...Has stuck out seven and walked six over that same span...Enters 2010 rated as the #7 prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization according to Baseball America...Acquired from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for second baseman Freddie Sanchez last July...Made five stats with Advanced-A San Jose before being promoted to Double-A Connecticut last season...Went 6-1 with a 3.47 ERA in 13 starts with the Defenders prior to the trade...Was 3-1 with a 4.66 ERA in seven starts afterward...Originally selected by the Giants in the first round (#22 overall) in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft...Facing a Giants affiliate for the first time since the trade.

ROGER THAT: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick has a season-long six-game hitting streak after going 1-for-3 with a run scored yesterday afternoon...The 23-year-old is 9-for-20 (.450) with a walk and three runs scored over the course of the streak...He has raised his batting average from .238 to .289 over the last six games.

IN THE NICK OF TIME: Second baseman Nick Noonan has driven in a run in each of his last four games...The 20-year-old had driven in just one run over his first 18 games...He is 4-for-13 (.308) over the last four games with a double, home run, four RBI and four runs scored...Of his 17 hits on the season, seven have gone for extra bases including six doubles which is tied for the team lead (Thomas Neal and Clay Timpner).

CLEAN SWEEP: The Flying Squirrels earned their second straight series sweep with yesterday's 4-1 win over the Baysox...The club has now swept three series this season, two against New Britain (4/19-4/21; 4/27-4/28) and the most recent against Bowie...Richmond has won four of its seven series this season and has only dropped one series (4/23-4/25 @ REA) since losing six of seven on the club's opening road trip.

SOARING IN THE STANDINGS: The Flying Squirrels are 13-3 in their last 16 games after starting the season 1-6...No other team in the Eastern League has won as many games over that span...Richmond has trimmed its deficit in the Eastern League Western Division in half going from five games back on April 18th to 2 1/2 entering play today.

RISING WATER: The Flying Squirrels have reached their high water mark for the season at 14-9, five games over .500...Richmond was above .500 just once through the first 18 games (8-7).

WINNING WAYS: The Flying Squirrels are currently in the midst of a season-long six-game winning streak...The Flying Squirrels have outscored the Rock Cats and Baysox 22-9 over the last six games and have outhit New Britain and Bowie 46-30.

PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels have the lowest staff ERA in the Eastern League at 2.31 entering today's games...Richmond has allowed the fewest runs in the league with 56...Richmond is the only club to have not allowed more than six runs in a game this season...The pitching staff is also leads the league with four shutouts...Since Opening Day at Bowie, Richmond has not allowed more than five runs in a game.

HORSESHOES AND HAND GRENADES: All 23 games for the Flying Squirrels this season have been decided by three runs or less..A save has been recorded for the victorious team in 20 of the 23...The average margin of victory/defeat is 2.1 runs (48R/23G).

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 28 double plays in their first 23 games...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Yesterday's 4-1 over the Flying Squirrels marked the first time that Richmond has been outhit in a game and won...Bowie out-hit Richmond 10-5 in the series finale...The club is now 1-5 when being outhit by its opponent...The Flying Squirrels are 10-2 when out-hitting their opponent and are 2-2 when matching their opponent in hits.

DIRTY SQUIRREL OF THE GAME: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick was named the Puritan Cleaners Dirty Squirrel of the Game on Sunday after hanging on to make a catch after colliding with Darren Ford in right-center field and sliding into home to score on Clay Timpner's RBI double.
