Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators' offense was silenced for the second straight game in a 7-0 loss to the Trenton Thunder, Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park. Trenton RHP Alfredo Acevces went eight innings and faced the minimum, allowing just one hit.

The Senators drew two walks and got a single from Garrett Guzman off Aceves, but each time a Senator reached, the next batter grounded into a double play. Seth Bynum walked with two out in the bottom of the 9th to ensure the Thunder wouldn't face the minimum for the game.

The Thunder jumped ahead in the 3rd inning when Reegie Corona doubled to lead off the inning and two batters later, Austin Jackson singled him home to make it 1-0.

Trenton erupted in the 5th. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Ramiro Pena hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Austin Jackson followed with a three-run homer to balloon the lead to 5-0 against RHP Shairon Martis. Trenton tacked on two more unearned runs against RHP Steve Schmoll in the top of the 6th.

Aceves (2-2) picked up the win. Martis (4-4) was saddled with the loss.

Harrisburg has just three hits in their last two games.

The Senators fell to 37-31. Trenton upped its record to 43-26.

The series continues Wednesday at Commerce Bank Park. Game time is set for 6:35 PM with Harrisburg RHP Bobby Brownlie (4-0, 2.83 ERA) facing Trenton RHP Jason Jones (8-2, 2.30 ERA).
