Trenton Thunder News Release

(Harrisburg, PA)- Thunder CF Austin Jackson hit a three-run home run, had 4 hits, and 4 RBI as Trenton defeated Harrisburg on Tuesday night at Commerce Bank Park in Harrisburg, PA. Jackson has now hit home runs in four consecutive games for Trenton.

Trenton (43-26) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning. With 2B Reegie Corona at 3rd base and one out, Jackson singled to left field to bring home the first run of the game. The Thunder extend the lead to 5-0 in the 5th inning with four runs. SS Ramiro Pena connected on a sacrifice fly RBI to plate the first run of the frame. Jackson followed and crushed a three-run home run to left field off of Harrisburg starting pitcher Shairon Martis (4-4). Jackson is now one HR shy of tying the Thunder record for most consecutive games with at least one home run. That record is held by Greg Blosser (7/25/95-7/29/95) and Mitch Jones (7/5/04-7/9/04). Trenton tacked on two unearned runs in the 6th inning to increase the lead to 7-0. 3B Chris Malec had an RBI single, and SS Ramiro Pena notched an RBI double in the inning.

Thunder starting pitcher Alfredo Aceves kept Harrisburg (37-31) at bay the entire night. Aceves (2-2) went 8 shutout innings and yielded only 1 H and 2 BB. He struck out 4 and faced the minimum amount of batters in 8 innings, as Trenton turned three double plays behind Aceves. Aceves has gone at least 7 IP in five of six starts since joining Trenton. Thunder reliever Zach Kroenke pitched a scoreless 9th inning as Trenton ended up facing one above the minimum (28 batters). The 1 hit is the fewest amount of hits the Thunder pitching staff has allowed in any game this season.

Trenton will look to make it two in a row on Wednesday in the middle game of the three-game series. RHP Jason Jones (8-2, 2.30) will start for Trenton against Harrisburg RHP Bobby Brownlie (4-0, 2.83). Game time is set for 6:35 p.m.
