Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA - The Altoona Curve returns home to Blair County Ballpark to open a six-day, seven-game homestand against the Reading Phillies, (AA/Philadelphia Phillies) and Bowie Baysox (AA/Baltimore Orioles). The homestand opens Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. against the R-Phils.
Highlighting the seven-game stretch will be an appearance by Curve legend and two-time M.V.P Adam Hyzdu on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Hyzdu, the only player in franchise history to have his uniform number (16) retired, will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, meet with fans and sign autographs. The first 2,000 fans through the gates on Thursday will also take home an Adam Hyzdu Bobblehead Doll, courtesy of Dodge.
Also over the course of the homestand, fans will enjoy three post-game fireworks extravaganzas (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday), a double-header which will feature half-priced Curve Burgers (Wednesday) and a commemorative 10th Anniversary Curve Autograph Book Giveaway, compliments of the Galliker Dairy Company (Saturday).
The Curve will also serve as proud host to the first annual S&T Bank/Altoona Curve High School All Star Baseball Classic on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The all star classic will showcase the area's top talent of graduating seniors from local high schools in District V, VI and IX. The rosters will include 15 players on each squad. With a ticket to Sunday's Curve game, fans can come early and watch the area's best amateur talent take the field at BCB.
Also, following all weekend games at BCB kids can run the bases, courtesy of Thomas Chevrolet of Bedford.
