
SeaWolves Slug Past Senators on Sunday

The SeaWolves bounced back on Sunday afternoon as they took down the Harrisburg Senators 8-1 at Metro Bank Park.
Erie jumped ahead in the first against Harrisburg starter Dakota Bacus. Jason Krizan led off with a single, Jeff McVaney walked and Dean Green singled to load the bases. Tony Thomas doubled off the wall in center, plating two for a 2-0 lead. Green later scored on a one-out groundout off the bat of Connor Harrell for a 3-0 lead.
The 'Wolves extended the lead to 4-0 in the second. Alberto Gonzalez led off with a double down the right field line and scored on a two-out McVaney knock.
Erie once again extended the lead in the fifth, knocking Bacus out of the game. Thomas led off with a walk and was tripled home by James Robbins for a 5-0 lead. Harrell followed with an RBI double, scoring Robbins making it 6-0. Austin Green followed with his second of three hits, knocking in Harrell for a 7-0 lead. It was the first time this season that Bacus did not make it through five innings in a start.
The lone Harrisburg run came in the bottom of the fifth against Erie starter Derek Hankins. Shawn Pleffner led off with a double and scored on a two-out Isaac Ballou knock to make it 7-1.
In the eighth with two outs, the 'Wolves again added to the lead. Robbins and Harrell each singled putting two on. Austin Green followed with his third hit, knocking in Robbins for an 8-1 advantage.
Hankins (3-6) earned the win allowing a run on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts in six innings of work.
Confesor Lara and Slade Smith combined to throw three scoreless innings to finish out the game.
Erie connected on a season-high 19 hits in the win. Every SeaWolves batter in the lineup collected at least one hit while six of the nine had two or more.
The 'Wolves go for their fourth straight road series win on Monday afternoon at noon in the final game before the All Star break.
