Sea Dogs Open Series with 3-1 Loss

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs (26-26, 66-56) come close in 3-1 loss to the Somerset Patriots (31-21, 73-47) on Tuesday night. The Sea Dogs welcomed their 11 millionth fan to Hadlock Field.

Nick Yorke extended an eighteen-game on-base streak after going one-for-two with a pair of walks along with his 22nd double of the season. Hunter Dobbins fired 6.0 innings with four strikeouts, Jacob Webb pitched 2.0 shutout innings allowing one walk while striking out three.

Somerset took the lead first in the top of the fourth after a two-run single for Jeisson Rosario.

Nick Yorke put Portland on the board with an RBI single to score Corey Rosier. Yorke's twenty-second double of the season cut the Patriot's lead in half.

With Spencer Jones at the plate in the top of the seventh, Eduardo Torrealba scored on a balk to extend the 3-1 Somerset lead.

Somerset reliever LHP Josh Maciejewski (1-2, 3.52 ERA) earned the win after pitching 1.2 shutout innings while striking out three. He did not issue a walk. The save was awarded to Ryan Anderson (1) after pitching a perfect ninth with one strikeout. The loss was issued to Portland starter RHP Hunter Dobbins (4-5, 4.47 ERA) after pitching 6.0 innings allowing two runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out four.

The Sea Dogs continue the series at Hadlock Field tomorrow, August 30th, 2023 for game two of a six-game series against the Somerset Patriots. First pitch for game two is slated for 6:00pm. Portland will start RHP Chih-Jung Liu (5-7, 5.51 ERA) while Somerset will give the ball to RHP Richard Fitts (9-5, 3.16 ERA).
