
Big Innings and Brito Guide Akron Past Bowie 7-5

Juan Brito lined two RBI doubles while Josh Naylor picked up a RBI hit in his rehab game to lead the Akron RubberDucks past the Bowie Baysox 7-5 on Tuesday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After Bowie tied the game in the top the sixth, Akron answered back with a big inning in the bottom half. Joe Naranjo opened the inning with a double. After a groundout, Brito lined a double to the FirstEnergy Power Alley to score Naranjo and make it 5-4 Akron. Later in the inning, Korey Holland lined a single back up the middle to bring home Brito before coming around to score on a Milan Tolentino single to put the RubberDucks ahead 7-4.
Mound Presence
Hunter Stanley got the start for Akron and ran into some early trouble allowing a run in the first. The right-hander settled in retiring the side in the second and the fourth without issue. In total, Stanley tossed four innings allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out four. Trey Benton followed allowing two runs over an inning of work. Bradley Hanner struck out three over two scoreless innings. Franco Aleman tossed a scoreless eighth. Davis Sharpe allowed a run in the ninth.
Duck Tales
Akron answered Bowie's early runs with a four spot in the bottom of the third. A Tolentino walk and Micael Ramirez single set the offense up for Connor Kokx, who singled home Tolentino to get Akron on the board. After Petey Halpin reached on a fielder's choice, Naylor lined a 107 mph single to center to score Ramirez and tie the game 2-2. Two batters later, Brito doubled into the gap to score Halpin and Naylor and make it 4-2 RubberDucks.
Notebook
Naylor played five innings at first base and went 1-for-2 with a run scored and RBI in his rehab game...Aleman extended his scoreless innings streak to 20.1...Game Time: 2:40...Attendance: 3,011.
