
Beck Leads Yard Goats to Victory with Walk-off Hit

Hartford, CT- Outfielder Jordan Beck cracked an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning leading the Hartford Yard Goats to a 4-3 victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the opener of a six-game series on Tuesday night at Dunkin' Park in Hartford. The Yard Goats trailed 3-0 in the sixth inning before Rockies top prospect Adael Amador hit his first home run in his first game in Hartford. Amador then tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
The Flying Squirrels scored the first run of the game in the third inning on an RBI single by Brady Whalen off Hartford starter Connor Van Scoyoc. Richmond made it 3-0 on Jimmy Glowenke's two-run homer in the fourth inning. Van Scoyoc turned in a solid start, going six innings and allowing three runs with a walk and five strikeouts.
The Yard Goats got a run in the sixth inning as Adael Amador smashed a solo home run into the second deck in right field to make it a 3-1 game off reliever Will Jenson. Braxton Fulford made it 3-2 when he led off the eighth inning with a home run, his second of the season.
Hartford was down 3-2 in the ninth inning. Julio Carreras began the rally with a four-pitch walk. Warming Bernabel was then hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and second. Braxton Fulford's sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third. Adael Amador hit a fly ball to center field, scoring Carreras and tying the game at 3-3. Bernabel tagged and went to third base. Sterlin Thompson walked, putting runners at the corners for Jordan Beck. Beck then ripped a 2-2 pitch into center field and Bernabel scored and the Yard Goats snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Yard Goats continue a 13-game homestand on Wednesday evening (7:10 PM) against the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants affiliate). RHP Mike Ruff will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Ryan Murphy will pitch for the Flying Squirrels. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
