NEWS AND NOTES

HOME COOKING: The Sea Dogs are back at Hadlock Field for the first time since the All-Star break to open up a seven-game homestand against Trenton and New Hampshire. Portland hasn't played Trenton since May 31st in New Jersey (2-0 loss). William Cuevas makes his first appearance since starting for East and throwing a perfect inning in the Sullivan Tire All-Star Classic, his fellow Eastern Division All-Star Brady Lail makes the start for Trenton.

THE STREAK IS OVER: The Sea Dogs picked up their third shutout win of the season yesterday in New Hampshire with a 2-0 win and ended their season-high seven-game losing streak. Mike McCarthy was perfect through five innings and allowed just one hit over 5.1 IP to earn his fifth win of the season. Williams Jerez earned his second hold and Jorge Marban picked up his fourth save of the year. Sea Dogs' pitching combined to allow just three Fisher Cats hits, tying a season best (May 27 @ Binghamton).
