Knapp's 4 RBI night leads the way

Andrew Knapp is on a roll as he recorded his first 4 RBI game of his career that led the Fightin Phils (52-43) to a 8-5 win over the Bowie Baysox (51-43). Mark Leiter Jr. (2-4) earned his second win of the season.

The Fightin Phils wasted no time in the top of the first inning against Baysox starter Parker Bridwell as they took a 2-0 lead. Brock Stassi and Andrew Knapp hit back-to-back RBI singles to score JP Crawford and Cameron Perkins. The RBI single extended Knapp's hitting streak to 16 games.

Quincy Latimore hit a solo home run off Leiter in the top of the second inning to cut Reading's lead to 2-1. The Fightin Phils extended their lead to 4-1 as Knapp and Brian Pointer hit RBI singles off Bridwell. Bridwell left the game after 2 1/3 innings for reliever Ashur Tolliver.

Bowie scored two runs off Leiter in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Fightins lead to 4-3. Leiter left the game after five innings as he allowed three runs off nine hits with four strikeouts. Kelly Dugan hit a sacrifice fly off Kenn Kasparek to give the Fightins a 5-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Ethan Stewart entered the bottom of the sixth inning. He recorded two outs before leaving the game for Joely Rodriguez.

Reading opened things up in the top of the seventh inning off reliever Marcel Prado as they scored three runs to take an 8-3 lead. Andrew Knapp hit a two-run double and Brian Pointer hit a RBI double. Quincy Latimore struck again in the bottom of the seventh inning as he hit a two-run home run off Rodriguez to cut the Fightins lead to 8-5.

Stephen Shackleford moved into sole-possession of fourth-place in all-time saves in a season as he retired the side in the bottom of the ninth inning for his 21st save of the season. Cameron Perkins, Brock Stassi and Brian Pointer each finished with two hits a piece.

The Fightin Phils and Baysox return to action on Tuesday night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm.
