Akron RubberDucks News Release

Richmond's Engel Beltre drilled a two-out, RBI double in the seventh inning Monday night, driving in the eventual game-winning run in the Flying Squirrels' 4-3 victory over the Akron RubberDucks at The Diamond.

Turning Point

With the score tied, 3-3, in the seventh inning, Richmond's Myles Schroder clubbed a two-out double off Akron starter Adam Plutko (4-4). Right-hander Enosil Tejeda was summoned from the bullpen and immediately hit the next hitter, catcher Jackson Williams. Beltre followed with a double to right field to drive in Schroder and give Richmond a 4-3 lead.

Mound Presence

Plutko threw shutout ball for five innings, but faltered in the sixth, giving up three runs on three hits, which allowed Richmond to tie the game, 3-3. Plutko walked none and fanned four in his 6 2/3 innings.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks took a 3-0 lead in the fifth, finally breaking through against Squirrels starter Tyler Beede, who had retired the first 12 batters he faced. Ryan Rohlinger and Justin Toole smacked RBI doubles, and Beede allowed another run on a wild pitch. Rohlinger was 2-4, and added another double leading off the ninth, but was picked off second.
