NEWS AND NOTES

LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN : After rain spoiled last night's series opener, the Sea Dogs will open up a six-game homestand with a doubleheader today against the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers affiliate) at Hadlock Field. Portland finished 1-5 on their six-game roadtrip last week against Erie and Akron, and have dropped 17 of 24 to the Western Division this season and are 2-8 during a 22-game stretch against the West...RHP Aaron Wilkerson makes his second straight Double-A start against the 'Wolves.

HAD HIM BACK FOR A GAME : CF Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 on Sunday afternoon in Portland's 10-3 loss at Akron...Betts led off the ninth with a homer and singled in the sixth...He became the 40th player to make a Major League rehab assignment with the Portland Sea Dogs and the 34th as a Red Sox affiliate...Akron scored five runs in the fifth and eight to secure the three-game sweep of the 'Dogs.
