Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, CA -- The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will once again show their support for schools and education around Kern County with the return of the THINK and Condors Classroom Champions programs for this season.

THINK, which stands for Turning Hockey Into New Knowledge, is sponsored by 101.5 KGFM, Paramount Farms and ARRC Technology. It is designed to reward students based on academic achievement and good behavior goals, as set by their particular schools.

The Condors Classroom Champions program, sponsored by CBS-29, McDonald's and Big Valley Construction, is specifically designed to reward students for outstanding attendance. Each participating school sets their own attendance criteria. For both programs, Condors players will visit each school as guest speakers and hold an assembly for winning students. Those students meeting the set criteria will receive free tickets to a Condors game.

"These programs have been very successful for both the Condors and the schools," said Condors Community Relations Director John Ayre. "We want to encourage performance in the classroom and help reward those students for their hard work and effort. Education is one of the building blocks of our community, and that is our focus."

Last season, over 100 schools participated in the two programs and nearly 20,000 tickets were given away. For more information on THINK or Classroom Champions, or to have your school involved, contact John Ayre at 324-PUCK (7825).
