October 9, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Arkansas RiverBlades News Release

The Arkansas RiverBlades are set for their fourth year in the ECHL as General Manager/ Head Coach Chris Cichocki made final cuts today. The RiverBlades trimmed the roster to seventeen active players by releasing Goaltender Jeff Reynaert, Defenseman Matt Dennehy and Left Wing Paul Andrea. Starting the season on injured reserve are forwards Kevin Korol and Sean Nolan.

"Right now we are still a work in progress" said Cichocki. " I feel we have some strengths at Goaltender and Defense, but injuries have forced me to rethink our situation at the forward spots"

Cichocki backed his words by making a trade with Peoria for left wing Damon Whitten. Whitten played last season for the Kelly Cup champion Greenville Grrrowl , scoring 9 goals and 23 assists for 32 points during the regular season. Whitten the played in 15 playoff games adding two goals toward Greenville's title run. Whitten played his college hockey at Michigan State.

The RiverBlades open the 2002-03 regular season on Saturday, October 12, hosting the Louisiana IceGators at 7:05 PM. Ticket information is available by calling the RiverBlades office at (501) 975-2327.
