Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, an affiliate of the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks, today announced several transactions in finalizing their roster for the start of the 2002-03 East Coast Hockey League regular season.

The Cyclones traded second-year defenseman Ryan O'Keefe to the Jackson (Miss.) Bandits in exchange for an undisclosed amount of cash. O'Keefe was limited to 33 games played during his rookie season due to injuries. The native of Mississauga, Ontario was one of eight defensemen in the Cyclones training camp.

Cincinnati also announced that forward Troy Linna, who was attending camp on a try-out basis, had left under his own terms. The team also released goaltender Jean-Francois Nogues. The former draft selection of the Los Angeles Kings was one of four goaltenders in camp.

Signed to a contract today by the Cyclones was defenseman Wes Blevins who was invited to camp on a try-out basis. The native of Westland, Michigan played last season in the United Hockey League with the Rockford (Il.) IceHogs.

Head Coach Malcolm Cameron's club opens the season this Saturday, October 12 against the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05 p.m. The festivities include a "Tribute to Pete Rose" at U.S. Bank Arena, including a jersey #14 retirement ceremony for the baseball legend. Select fans will have the opportunity to meet Mr. Rose and get his autograph, while others will be chosen to compete in a homerun hitting contest against baseball's all-time hits leader.
