IceGators announce Opening Night Roster

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana IceGators head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish has announced his Opening Night roster. Ten forwards, six defenseman and two goaltenders comprise the 18-man roster. Three more players – defenseman Jaroslav Kerestes and forwards Kenny Corupe and Semir Ben-Amor – are with the IceGators but cannot play until their immigration is approved. New immigration laws are the reason for the delay.

Farrish's forwards are Shawn McNeil, Curtis Valentine, Bobby Brown, John DePourcq, Chris Taliercio, Nathan Rempel, Shawn Skiehar, Dennis Shiryaev, Bruce Richardson and Daniel Goneau, and his defensemen are Kevin Mitchell, J.P. Morin, Jeff Worlton, Rod Sarich, Branislav Kvetan and Cal Benazic. Louisiana's two goaltenders are a pair of netminders under contract with the NHL Minnesota Wild – Frederic Cloutier and Kyle Kettles.

The IceGators open up their eighth ECHL season Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in Arkansas against the RiverBlades. Louisiana's home opener is Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:05 p.m. against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. The IceGators would like to remind their fans that their original home opener this Sunday against Arkansas has been postponed until November 7.
