Schaumburg Boomers News Release
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers managed just five hits and stranded 10 men on base in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the visiting Evansville Otters at Boomers Stadium Tuesday evening.
The Boomers (48-37) loaded the bases twice with nobody out but failed to score in either occasion. Schaumburg's first three batters of the game reached via the free pass as Karexon Sanchez coaxed an eight-pitch walk and both Nate Baumann and Frank Pfister took first after being hit by a pitch. Evansville's Bryce Morrow coaxed an infield fly and a double play to get out of the inning unscathed. Morrow allowed just three hits over his six inning of run-free baseball Tuesday to even his record at 7-7.
Schaumburg also loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, however this time it was reliever David Kubiak for Evansville who made the pitches to get out of the jam. Drew Heithoff flew out to deep left for the first out, Kubiak struck out Baumann for out number two and coaxed a groundout to second from Pfister on the way to his second save of the season for the Otters
Cameron Roth put forth a solid effort on the mound despite taking the loss for the Boomers. The lefty allowed three runs on six hits over his 6 and 2/3 innings for Schaumburg and fell to 8-8 on the season. Steve McQuail, with a pair of singles, was the lone member of the Boomers with multiple hits and Sanchez reached base three times with a double and two walks in the loss.
Schaumburg looks to avenge the Game One defeat with RHP Alex Rivers (3-3, 5.80) on the mound for Manager Jamie Bennett and the Otters counter with LHP Matt Crim (3-8, 4.30) on Tuesday with a special 1 p.m. start time.
