SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors (7-8) defeated the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (5-7) 130-114 Friday night in Santa Cruz to snap a four-game home losing streak in front of a sold-out crowd for the 83rd consecutive time at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Ky Bowman, on a Two-Way contract with the Golden State Warriors, just missed out on a triple-double with 27 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in his G League debut. Bowman shot 10-of-16 from the floor and hit four-of-seven from the 3-point line.
Bowman was one of three Sea Dubs to register a double-double and one of seven Warriors to score in double figures. Juan Toscano-Anderson added 19 points and 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, while Jeremy Pargo had 17 points and 11 assists. Alen Smailagic, on assignment from Golden State, had 18 points and six rebounds, while Deyonta Davis had 19 points on a perfect eight-of-eight from the floor.
Agua Caliente was led by Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who had 26 points and nine assists, while Donte Grantham had 25 points and nine rebounds.
Santa Cruz fell behind 31-29 after 12 minutes but started the second quarter on a 14-4 run and outscored the Clippers 40-22 in the second quarter to take a 69-53 halftime lead. The Sea Dubs led by as many as 21 points and never let the Clippers get closer than 12 points in the second half.
The Warriors shot 57 percent from the floor, while the Clippers hit 49 percent of their field goal attempts after connecting on 65 percent of their shots in the first quarter. The Sea Dubs outrebounded Agua Caliente 40-35, marking the fourth time in the last five games that Santa Cruz has outrebounded its opponent. Santa Cruz also had 29 assists against just 13 turnovers, matching a season high in assists and third fewest turnovers in a game as a team.
The Warriors will fly out of Norman Y Mineta San Jose International Airport to take on the Northern Arizona Suns Sunday at 2 p.m. PST. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Bay Area. The Warriors will return to Kaiser Permanente on December 29 for a 6:00 p.m. PST tip against the Texas Legends. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Chase Center Snowglobe.
