Jack, Skyforce Outlast Wolves in Road Win
December 14, 2019 - NBA G League (G League)
Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Jarrett Jack (28 points, five assists and five rebounds) stayed red-hot, leading the Sioux Falls Skyforce (6-9) to a 98-95 road victory over the Iowa Wolves (6-8) at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Saturday night.
Jack opened the scoring and tallied eight of his points in the first quarter alone as the Skyforce led the Wolves by as many as 13 points in the opening frame. Sioux Falls would go on to maintain the lead, though Iowa would cut it down to single digits on multiple occasions, for the rest of the contest in the wire-to-wire victory.
The Wolves, led by Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Naz Reid (25 points and nine rebounds) would whittle the Skyforce lead down to 97-95 with just 5.3 seconds remaining, but the Force would hang on for its second road victory of the season. Tonight's game snapped a seven-game road losing streak for the Force dating back to its season-opening victory against the same Iowa Wolves team on November 8.
Sioux Falls saw seven players score at least nine points on the night, including Kyle Alexander (13 points and eight rebounds) and Davon Reed (10 points and nine rebounds). In addition, Jeremiah Martin (10 points) scored in double-figures for the 15th-straight game to start the season for the Force.
Accompanying Reid's big night, Timberwolves assignee Jaylen Nowell (15 points) and two-way player Kelan Martin (14 points) rounded out the bulk of the production for Iowa in the loss.
Miami HEAT assignee KZ Okpala (nine points, six rebounds and two steals) turned in an efficient performance, making four-of-six field goal attempts in just over 21 minutes of action in the win.
The Skyforce will head back home to take on the Texas Legends (9-6) on Tuesday, December 17 before traveling to Las Vegas for the MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase Tournament which begins on Thursday, December 19. The Wolves will stay home to take on the Oklahoma City Blue (4-9) on Tuesday, December 17 before traveling to Las Vegas as well.
