Westchester Knicks News Release
GREENSBORO, NC - Lamar Peters tied the franchise assist record for the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, and the Knicks defeated the Greensboro Swarm, 123-116. The Knicks have now won three of their last four.
Lamar Peters' franchise-tying 14 assists were accompanied by 23 points, his third consecutive game with at least that much, and eight rebounds. Two-Way player Ivan Rabb scored 19 points on 82-percent. Kenny Wooten set a new career-high with 18 points on 87.5-percent and nine rebounds. JJ Moore added a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards off the bench.
Caleb Martin (27 PTS) and Robert Franks (23 PTS) led the Swarm. Kobi Simmons added 15 points and 11 rebounds for his double-double.
Westchester (5-8) entered tonight slotted first in the NBA G League in three-point percentage, but the contest saw Greensboro shooting lights out in the first half. The Swarm (4-10), who are in the middle of the pack in outside shooting, swished nine treys on 56.2-percent, while containing the Knicks to just four makes at 33.3-percent. Moore made all but one of them. Despite the Swarm's three-point prowess in the first half, the clubs were separated by two, 61-59, with the hosts in front.
The three-ball sided with the Knicks in the third quarter as the team sank six vastly contrasting the Swarm's 1-of-6 attempts in 12 minutes. This time, Peters caught fire pouring in four. He would end with five, one shy of his career-high. This helped pushed Westchester ahead by one, 89-88, before the final quarter commenced.
To start the fourth, the Knicks shifted gears working up a 10-point lead in the first five minutes causing damage to the Swarm in the paint. Wooten ultimately gave the Knicks their first double-digit advantage on a quick five-point flurry after he checked in for less than a minute, 104-94.
The Swarm continued to battle crediting a 16-4 run, 110-108, with 1:41 remaining in the contest. Wooten flew to the basket while attracting the contact for his second and-one in the quarter and pushed the Knicks back up five, 10 seconds later. Greensboro brought the game within two possessions through the clutch window three more times but failed to prevail.
Westchetser travels to one last opponent before the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase in the Canton Charge, Tuesday, December 17 at 7 PM ET.
