London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - Mark Samuelson's second 3-run homer of the game earned London (7-10) a walk-off 9-7 win over the Normal CornBelters.

Samuelson's first blast keyed a 4-run first inning, putting London ahead, 4-1.

London held a 5-1 lead into the 6th, when Normal put up 6 runs on only three hits, taking a 7-5 lead.

The CornBelters walked four times in the inning, twice with the bases loaded, to account for their explosion.

Rippers' pitchers had control issues throughout the night, walking 12 batters in the game, 8 by starter Eric Katzman.

With the Rippers down 7-5 in the 8th, newly signed, Brad Agustin hit a pinch-hit double and scored while Clifton Thomas was caught in a rundown between 1st and 2nd .

Normal closer, Marshall Schuler (1-1) got the first out of the 9th, but followed that with a walk to Joash Brodin. He moved to 3rd on David Christensen's double to set up the Samuelson homer, which hit the scoreboard in right-centre field, sending London to their fourth win in a row.

"I very rarely know when I hit a homer." Samuelson said "But I knew I got the job done. That was the key."

Adam Arnold (2-2) pitched a scoreless 9th inning to earn the win.

The Rippers go for their first series sweep tomorrow against the CornBelters. Game time is 6:30pm. Matt Schimpf gets the ball for London, Normal's Daniel Britt.
