
Salmon Kings Power Past the Condors

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- The Victoria Salmon Kings (23-25-1-2, 49pts) scored four power play goals en route to a 7-2 win over the Bakersfield Condors (24-23-2-1, 51pts) at Rabobank Arena Tuesday night.
Bakersfield fell behind 43 seconds into the game, when C Rob Hennigar collected a rebound and squeezed a shot through G Josh Tordjman to put the Salmon Kings up 1-0. Victoria increased the lead to 2-0 on another rebound, this time on the power play as LW Chad Painchaud knocked home his 15th goal of the year.
The Salmon Kings power play continued to roll in the second period, as both C Kiel McLeod and RW Ryan MacMurchy collected goals, increasing the Salmon Kings lead to 4-0. Derek Couture capped off the scoring in the second at 15:17 by polishing off a 3-on-2 rush and putting a shot into the top right corner of the net. G Brian Stewart took over in net for Bakersfield following the goal.
Bakersfield finally got on the board in the third, with D Jay Cascalenda notching his second of the year on a partial breakaway at 3:17 and RW Bobby Robins whacking in a rebound chance at 8:02. But Victoria finished off the game by adding two more of their own, including another for McLeod on the power play to cruise to the win.
Notes:
The loss snapped a three-game home winning streak for Bakersfield... RW Erick Lizon served the eigth game of his nine-game league suspension tonight. He can return on Saturday...
