Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Wednesday that defenseman Guillaume Monast has been recalled by the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Texas is the AHL affiliate of the Idaho Steelheads. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.

Monast skated for the Stars Wednesday, picking up an assist in the team's 4-2 matinee loss to Lake Erie. It was his first AHL point of the season in four contests with the Stars. The 22-year-old Quebec native has skated in 109 regular-season games for the Steelheads over the past two seasons, totaling 14 points (one goal, 13 assist) and a plus-20 plus/minus rating. He also had five points in 13 postseason games during Idaho's run to the ECHL's Kelly Cup Finals last spring.

Monast is under contract with the NHL's Dallas Stars and has spent time with both of the organization's development affiliates this season. Texas (AHL) and Idaho (ECHL) are the primary development affiliates of the Dallas Stars.

The Steelheads are back at home Friday night to host long-time rival Alaska at 7 PM at Qwest Arena. It's RC Willey "Family Night," with 2-for-1 vouchers available only at RC Willey on Eagle Road. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
