Urquhart Recalled; Grant Reassigned to Wheeling

WHEELING, WV ‚¬" The Wheeling Nailers announced a couple of transactions Wednesday. The team announced that defenseman David Urquhart as been recalled by the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. In addition, the Nailers announced that defenseman Alex Grant has been reassigned to Wheeling by the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL).

Urquhart, 26, has appeared in 15 games with the Bulldogs this season recording an assist and six penalty minutes. In 24 games with Wheeling this season, Urquhart registered nine points (1g, 8a) and 32 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman has played a total of 120 AHL games amassing 19 points (6g, 13a) and 74 penalty minutes. This is his third call-up to Hamilton this season.

Grant, 22, registered 27 points (7g, 20a) in 40 games last season with the Nailers. In addition, the Antigonish, Nova Scotia native appeared in 14 games last season for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) totaling five points (3g, 2a). Grant is a fourth-round selection of Pittsburgh in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'3", 190-lb defenseman played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Saint John Sea Dogs and Shawinigan Cataractes amassing 143 points (44g, 99a).

The Nailers battle the Reading Royals on Friday at the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. The next Nailers home game at WesBanco Arena is scheduled for Sunday, February 27 against Greenville beginning at 6:05 p.m. There will be a post game skate with the players.
