(Bossier City, LA) - On Saturday's game against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, the Rush headed to a shootout for the first time this season. Three Mudbugs converted in the shootout as Bossier-Shreveport downed the Rush 3-2 for their first home victory of the season.

Brendon Hodge opened the scoring at the 11:47 mark when he circled behind the cage and banked a shot off of netminder Ken Carroll into net for the 1-0 lead. Assisting on the play was Scott Wray who collected his 10th point on the season as well as Brendan Cook. Under 4 minutes later, Rich Hansen scored his second goal of the season to make it 2-0 off of a centering pass by Devon LeBlanc. LeBlanc's assist marked his first professional point as the second assist went to Derek Campbell.

The second period was evenly contested until the 14 minute mark when Brett Smith single-handedly brought his team back into the game. At the 14:01 mark while on the powerplay, Smith tipped in a Simon Mangos shot to cut the lead in half. Then with just 35 seconds left in the period, he knocked in a rebound to tie the game at 2.

Neither team found the net in the third period nor overtime, so the game headed to a shootout.

In the shootout, the Mudbugs led 2-0 heading into the fourth round. Les Reaney kept the game alive for Rapid City, but Brett Smith sealed the 3-2 win for Bossier-Shreveport.

The Rush are now 5-5-1 on the season, 4th place in the Northern Conference. The Mudbugs held the slight edge in shots, 38-36. Ken Carroll stopped 34 shots for his first win of the season while Danny Battochio made 35 saves in the loss.

The Rush now head home to take on the Colorado Eagles on Tuesday the 17th at 6:35pm.
