Jacks Extend Win Streak to Seven with 5-2 Win

(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes power play unit scored for the 10th straight game with three goals on Saturday night in a 5-2 win over the Amarillo Gorillas at the Ector County Coliseum. Kenny Bernard did not score in the game for Odessa bringing his goal-scoring streak to a close at eight games.

The scoring began 3:58 into the first period when Dominic Leveille scored on Paul Kelly's centering pass from the corner. The Gorillas tied it up nearly 13 minutes later with a power play goal from Stuart MacRae. Odessa's power play took over the closing minutes of the first period with a pair of goals. Mike Lesperance regained the lead with a goal at 16:42 then Jeff Pierce made it a 3-1 score at 18:42. Sebastien Thinel and Phil Plante had the assists on both goals.

Odessa extended their lead in the second period when Pierce's one-timer at the top of the circles deflected off Collin Circelli and in the net for a 4-1 lead. The power play goal was Circelli's seventh of the season - all of his goals have come on home ice.

The teams traded goals late in the third period. Amarillo cut the lead to two with MacRae's second goal of the game at 19:00. 41 seconds later, Leveille added an empty net goal for the Jacks to make the score 5-2.

Juha Toivonen made 28 saves to earn his sixth win of the season.

Odessa and Amarillo will meet again on Tuesday at the Ector County Coliseum for a 7:05 PM start. Tickets are available and the action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM.
