November 14, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
(Southaven, MS - 11/14/09) --- Once again the Mississippi RiverKings failed to forge a winning streak, as coming off Friday's win against Bossier-Shreveport, the RiverKings fell at Tulsa 4-1 on Saturday, November 14.
Mississippi has not lost more than one game in a row all year and has only fashioned a two-game winning once, coming early into the season.
On Saturday, Tulsa forward T.J. Caig was one of the offensive stars for the winning team with two goals and an assist.
Caig opened the scoring for Tulsa in the first period with a power play goal at 7:55 for a 1-0 lead.
Rob Hisey increased the margin to 2-0 at 3:24 of the second period with his tenth goal of the season as Tulsa took a 2-0 lead after forty minutes of play.
Early in the third period, Tulsa took a 3-0 lead when Troy Riddle scored his fourth goal of the year for a 3-0 lead. The RiverKings battled back to slice the deficit to two goals at 3-1 with Bobby Chaumont's sixth goal of the year at 12:39.
However, the Oilers finished up the game with Caig scoring his second goal of the night and ninth of the season at 14:14 for the final score.
Mississippi failed to score in six power play chances while Tulsa scored one power play goal in four opportunities. The Oilers outshot the RiverKings by a 31-30 margin, holding the RiverKings to only four shots on net in the third period.
With the loss, the RiverKings fall to 7-7-0 for the season, failing again to forge a two-game winning streak. Tulsa raises its record to 7-3-0 with the victory.
A three-game in three day weekend starts on Thursday when the RiverKings play the Mudbugs in Bossier-Shreveport, then host the Mudbugs in Southaven on Friday night. Saturday, Mississippi plays its first game ever against the expansion Missouri Mavericks in Southaven. All three games start at 7:05 PM.
