Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - In the first home game since January 22nd, the Rapid City Rush earned a 4-2 win over the Arizona Sundogs on Friday night. The victory extends the current Rush win streak to nine, setting a new mark for the longest such streak in the CHL this season and the second-longest in team history. The win also gives the Rush sole possession of first place in the Turner Conference. Tickets are still available for tomorrow's contest between the Rush and Sundogs.

It took the Arizona Sundogs nearly thirteen minutes to get their first shot on net, but the patience paid off as they picked up the first goal of the contest. Scoring on the first shot was Maxime Renaud who snapped home his 3rd of the season from the right faceoff dot. Just 53 seconds later, Ryan Menei accepted a drop pass from Konrad Reeder and fired a wrist shot over the glove of Groenestege to even the score. Menei's goal gave him 30 for the season, becoming the first playing in the league to reach the plateau.

The Rush gained their first lead of the game 2:41 into the second period with the fifth goal in seven games from Vladimir Hartinger. Josh Beaulieu slid a pass to Hartinger in the slot, and the veteran defenseman sent in a shot that handcuffed the goaltender, sneaking past the blocker for his 10th of the year. With less than three minutes left in the period, the Rush doubled the lead off of Ryan Menei's second of the game and 31st of the season, tying the Rush record for most goals in a season set by Scott Wray last year. The tally came in the closing seconds of a powerplay, where Les Reaney worked his way to the side of the net and slid a backdoor pass to Menei for an open net.

Rapid City took a 4-1 lead on Konrad Reeder's 10th of the year and ninth in the last eleven games. While on a 2-on-1, Rush captain Scott Wray slid a pass over to Reeder, who moved past Groenestege and backhanded home the insurance goal. Just ten seconds later, Karl Sellan answered back for the Sundogs, bringing the game to a 4-2 final.

Danny Battochio made 18 saves for his league-leading 21st win of the season while Doug Groenestege was dealt his 10th loss of the year despite making 32 stops.
