Bucks Shut Out By \'Bugs, 5-0

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 5-0 Saturday night, in front of 5,127 fans at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks winless streak increases to four games (0-3-1) as they fall to 16-24-7 (39 points).

John DeCaro stopped all 18 shots he faced to send the Bucks to their first shutout loss of the season.

The Mudbugs (25-19-2) scored first for the second straight game when Jamie Milam lit the lamp for the second game in a row when he scored with a slap shot from the point. The goal was Milam's 12th of the season. Milam's goal came seconds after both goaltenders made several spectacular saves.

The Mudbugs outshot the Bucks 10-5 in the first period.

Bossier added two goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

The Mudbugs increased their lead to 2-0 at the 5:21 mark of the second when David Rutherford scored his 30th of the season on a breakaway.

Simon Magnos made it 3-0 Mudbugs with 6:32 left in the second when he sent the puck in from the point after picking up a loose puck in Laredo's end.

The Bucks outshot the Mudbugs 10-7 in the second period.

Brett Smith made it 4-0 at the 7:34 mark of the third period when he scored from the left circle. The goal was Smith's 15th of the season.

The Mudbug went up 5-0 with just 3:17 left in the game when Jeff Martens struck from the slot to score his 14th of the season.

The Mudbugs outshot the Bucks 14-3 in the third period and 31-18 in the game.

Torrie Jung stopped 26 of 31 shots for the Bucks.

During the second intermission the Bucks donated $10,000 to Families for Autism Support and Awareness (FFASAA).
