Akron RubberDucks News Release
Yandy Diaz's 7th inning bases-loaded walk forced in the go-ahead run, snapping a 2-2 tie and giving the Akron RubberDucks a win in the weekend-series opener over the Reading Fightin' Phils on Friday at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Trailing 2-0 in the 6th inning, Akron outfielder Bryson Myles tied the game with a two-run single to left field to tie the game at 2-2 before Diaz's go-ahead walk the next inning.
Mound Presence
Cleveland Indians' pitcher Josh Tomlin made a rehab appearance for the RubberDucks, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits, one walk, and striking out two. Originally-scheduled starter Jordan Cooper allowed two runs in 3.2 innings of relief work before Eastern League All-Star Josh Martin stranded two runners and got a bases-loaded strikeout to get out of a 7th-inning jam. Martin threw a scoreless eighth inning and fellow All-Star Jeff Johnson came on for a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 14th save in 14 tries.

All-Star Yandy Diaz went 3-for-3 with a double and the go-ahead RBI on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh. Carlos Moncrief added a pair of hits and Bryson Myles had a two-run single in the sixth inning. Shortstop Ryan Rohlinger went 1-for-1 with three walks.
