
Offense Backs Dominant Start by Glasnow in 8-5 Win over Bowie

CURVE, Pa. - Pittsburgh Pirates top prospect Tyler Glasnow cruised through six scoreless, one-hit frames as the Altoona Curve offense added 13 hits in an 8-5 win over the Bowie Baysox at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Friday night.
With the win, the Curve (47-39) are one game behind the first-place Baysox (48-38) in the Easter League's Western Division Standings.
Glasnow (Win, 3-2) allowed just one hit in his six innings, retiring 18 out of the 20 batters he faced while striking out seven.
Adam Frazier singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
The Curve took the lead against Bowie starter Mikey O'Brien (Loss, 1-1) with a four-run second inning. Mel Rojas Jr. tripled home Dan Gamache. With two outs, Frazier reached on a throwing error by Baysox shortstop Ozzie Martinez, allowing Rojas to score.
Later in the inning, Max Moroff singled in a run and a throwing error by left fielder Quincy Latimore allowed an additional run to score, giving Altoona a 4-0 lead.
Stetson Allie hit a two-run single in the fifth inning gave the Curve a 6-0 advantage.
Josh Bell singled in Moroff in the sixth inning for his 51st RBI of the year. After a two-run homer by Bowie's Brandon Snyder in the seventh, Moroff drove in Jacob Stallings in the eighth inning to put Altoona ahead 8-2.
Jason Creasy (Save, 1) worked three relief innings, allowing six hits and five runs with three strikeouts. The Baysox scored three runs against him in the ninth.
Moroff and Rojas each finished the night with three hits.
The Curve and the Baysox continue the series Saturday night at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 5. The game will be followed by a Fireworks show, presented by WTAJ. It is also Scout Night and kids can run the bases following the game.
On the hill for the Curve will be right-hander Chad Kuhl (6-3, 3.07), while left Ashur Tolliver (1-0, 2.31) will take the ball for the Baysox.
