Langley, BC- The Victoria Royals dropped a 3-1 contest to the Vancouver Giants on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre to open a home-and-home weekend series.

Notes:

Streaking Skaters - A pair of Victoria skaters extended their point streaks in tonight's game. Tyler Soy recorded an assist and now has seven points (2g-5a) in his last four contests, while Noah Gregor's goal gives him six points (3g-3a) in as many games dating back to his time with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

New Kid on the Block - Recently acquired forward Noah Gregor scored his first goal as a Royal tonight. The 2016 San Jose Sharks' draft pick earned his first point with Victoria on Tuesday with an assist.

Former Royal - The Giants' Jared Dmytriw played against his former team tonight. Dmytriw took part in 179 games for Victoria over his first three years in the WHL and was traded to the Red Deer Rebels this summer. Vancouver acquired Dmytriw from Red Deer in November.

Dish Master - With an assist tonight, Tyler Soy (145) is within two helpers of tying the Victoria record for most career assists, set by former Royal Jack Walker with 147 (2012-17). Former Royal and Chilliwack Bruin Brandon Magee holds the franchise record with 151 assists over his 318-game career (2010-15).

Top Prospects - In tonight's contest the Royals and Giants were each represented by a player named to the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game tonight. Victoria's Eric Florchuk and Vancouver's Milos Roman will both take part in the contest on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Guelph, ON.

Hometown Player - Tonight, four Victoria skaters returned home as Spencer Gerth (Langley), Scott Walford (Coquitlam), Tyus Gent (Delta), and Kaid Oliver (White Rock) all originate from the Greater Vancouver Area.

Next Up - Victoria will return home tomorrow night to take on the Giants for the team's final game before the 10-day Christmas break. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m.
