Cranbrook, BC - The Kootenay ICE scored the first five goals en route to a 5-1 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday afternoon at Western Financial Place.

Okotoks product Peyton Krebs led the way for the ICE with a goal and two assists while Michael King, Cameron Hausinger, Dallas Hines and Sebastian Streu also tallied markers for the home side.

Mark Kastelic, on a second period power play, scored the lone goal for the Hitmen. Jake Kryski drew one of the assists to extend his point scoring streak to a career high six games.

Calgary outshot the ICE 25-21 with Duncan McGovern making 24 saves to move Kootenay six points ahead of the Hitmen for a Central Division playoff spot.

Calgary returns home to host Kootenay in the rematch tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 17. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome for the sixth annual Pucks for Paws in partnership with WEB Consulting Ltd. and features a first intermission wiener dog race. The goal line to far blue line sprint will feature more than 20 dogs including Woutie, the furry friend of Canadian country music star Paul Brandt. Pucks for Paws raises funds and awareness for the Four Feet Companion Foundation, a local volunteer-run agency that provides financial grants to registered animal charities in Calgary and area.

It's also Sunday Funday presented by Pocky. There will be face painters, concourse activities, lots of giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday contests feature a specially priced $8.99 ticket (plus applicable fees) for kids 12 and under.
