GAME DAY PREVIEW: Pats Wrap First Half of 2017-18 in Saskatoon Sunday

The Regina Pats (16-16-3-0) wrap up the first half of their regular season schedule on Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon against the Blades (14-17-2-1). Puck drop is at 4:00 p.m. at the SaskTel Centre. The Pats fell 6-2 on home ice Saturday at the Brandt Centre at the hands of the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Blades were in action at home to Kelowna and lost 5-0. Tonight is the fourth of eight meetings between the two clubs in 2017-18, The Pats hold a 1-1-1-0 record so far in the season series. The game can be heard starting at 3:35 with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey on 620 CKRM and will also be broadcast on Access 7.

The Lead Up: Pats drop third straight game to Lehbridge Saturday
The Regina Pats lost a third straight game on Saturday night, 6-2 at the hands of the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Brandt Centre. The Hurricanes drew first blood on the powerplay but Robbie Holmes responded for Regina with his seventh of the year and it was 1-1 after the opening 20. Lethbridge took over in the second frame, scoring four times to lead 5-1 heading to the third. Matt Bradley got one back with his team leading 21st of the season but that was as close as the Pats would get in a 6-2 defeat. Lethbridge outshot Regina 37-35 in the win, the Pats powerplay was oh for four and the penalty kill three for seven.
Head to Head
Tonight is the fourth of eight meetings between the Pats and Blades with Regina holding a 1-1-1-0 record through three home games in the season series. Matt Bradley leads the Pats with three goals and three assists in the three games while Jake Leschyshyn and Emil Oksanen have two goals and two assists. The Blades Cameron Hebig has scored three goals and has nine points against Regina, Braylon Shmyr has eight points and Brad Goethals four. The Pats currently occupy the first wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference with 35 points in the standings. The Blades are two points back of Prince Albert for the final playoff spot in the East with 31 points.
200 Games
Pats defenceman Dawson Davidson will play in his 200th career WHL game this afternoon in Saskatoon. The product of Moosomin, Saskatchewan is playing in his fourth season in the league split between the Kamloops Blazers and the Pats. The 19-year-old has put up 20 goals and 75 assists for 95 points in his first 199 games. Davidson this year has scored six times which has matched his previous career high from the 2015-16 season with the Blazers. The defenceman is on pace to put up 47 points this year, which would surpass his best season of 39 points, also set in 2015-16 in Kamloops. His 23 points this season is 19th best among all Werstern Hockey League defenceman so far this year and his sox goals is tied for 17th.
