Memphis Redbirds News Release
The Royals stranded six runners over the first three innings before the flood gates opened beginning in the fourth with Omaha scoring at least one run in five of their final six at-bats. Solo home runs from Ed Lucas and Lucas May in the fifth inning gave Omaha their first lead of the night. The Royals blew the game open in the seventh scoring four runs off back-to-back doubles from Marc Maddox and Jarrod Dyson. Lucas led Omaha with three hits and four RBI. Amaury Cazana paced the Redbirds with three hits.
Royals starter Luis Mendoza earned the win giving up two runs on five hits over six innings for his sixth win of the year. Memphis starter Ryan Kulik was pinned with the loss after tying a franchise record with seven walks and allowing three runs on three hits over 4.2 innings.
Memphis wraps up the homestand tomorrow night against Omaha with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The 'Birds will hand the ball to Brandon Dickson with the O-Royals sending Blaine Hardy to the hill.
