Reno Aces News Release
TACOMA, Wash.-Zach Kroenke dealt five hitless innings, Chris Rahl hit his third home run in the last four games, and the Reno Aces rolled to a 4-1 win over the Tacoma Rainiers Monday night at Cheney Stadium.
Kroenke (3-3), making his fourth spot start of the season, was brilliant, holding the Rainiers offense hitless and scoreless over five innings of work. Kroenke has now allowed no earned runs over his last three starts and just one earned run in his four total starts this season.
Behind Kroenke, Jason Urquidez, TJ Beam, Jose Marte and Rafael Rodriguez combined to allow just one run over the game's final four frames.
Rahl continued his torrid stretch at the plate, crushing his ninth home run of the season in the fifth inning. That solo shot came two batters after Yunesky Sanchez put Reno on the board with a two-run homer of his own. That would be all the offense Reno would need.
The loss fell to Rainiers starter Michael Pineda (3-2), who allowed three runs on five hits over six innings of work. Pineda struck out seven and walked just one.
The series comes to a close on Tuesday with an 11:35 a.m. matinee from Cheney Stadium. RHP Josh Collmenter (3-2, 5.40 ERA) takes the ball for Reno, while Tacoma counters with RHP Blake Beavan (0-0, No ERA).
The Aces return home to Reno on Wednesday, Aug. 4 to kick-off an eight-game homestand versus Nashville and Memphis. Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
