
Royals Host Three Games this Week

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals will host the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday evening and BC Division rivals the Vancouver Giants on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Wednesday's game is Island Savings Night, while Saturday's contest is Guides and Scouts Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday, and 2:05 p.m. on Sunday.
PENALTY KILL PROWESS: The Victoria Royals enter this week with the third ranked penalty kill in the WHL. The Royals currently boast an 83.4% success rate when playing shorthanded, and have only allowed 29 goals against over 175 opportunities. Since a 6-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans on January 6th, Victoria has only allowed one goal against on the penalty kill, for a mark of 14/15".3%.
WHO IS IT GOING TO BE: The Royals' trio of Matthew Phillips, Tyler Soy and Jack Walker are currently tied for third in the WHL for the most opening goals. Phillips, Soy and Walker have all scored the game's first marker on five separate occasions. The next closest Royal is Vladimir Bobylev, who has tallied the opening goal in four contests. The League lead is currently held by Dryden Hunt of the Moose Jaw Warriors with seven.
WEDNESDAY - ISLAND SAVINGS NIGHT
Pre-Game:
- Island Saving will be in the concourse, and will be doing a draw at their table for an iPad. The winner will be announced during the third period. Island Savings will also be handing out thundersticks prior to puck drop.
SATURDAY - GUIDES & SCOUTS NIGHT
The Royals will be honouring local guides and scouts throughout the evening with concourse displays, giveaways and a pre-game ceremony. A duet from the Girl Guides will perform the national anthem before the game.
