
Raiders' Reid Gardiner Named WHL Player of the Week

Prince Albert, SK - The Western Hockey League announced on Monday that Prince Albert Raiders forward Reid Gardiner has been named the WHL Player of the Week.
Gardiner, a native of Humboldt, SK recorded seven points (3g-4a) to go along with a plus-five rating last week as Prince Albert went 2-0-1-0 on a three-game road trip.
On Wednesday, January 13 against the Edmonton Oil Kings, Gardiner was involved in all three Prince Albert goals as he collected a goal and two assists to lead his team to a 3-1 victory. On Friday, January 15, Gardiner remained consistent on the score sheet as he recorded four points (2g-2a) to lead the Raiders to a 4-2 comeback win over the Kootenay Ice. The following night, Gardiner was held scoreless but earned a plus-1 rating as the Raiders fell to the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-2 in overtime.
It is the second time this season that Gardiner has been named the WHL Player of the Week. He also earned the honour for the week of September 28 to October 4.
In 45 games this season for the Raiders, Gardiner has 29 goals and 35 assists for 64 points. The five-foot-eleven, 195-pound winger is tied for fourth in league scoring and ranks second in the WHL with 29 goals.
Gardiner is in his fourth season in the WHL, all spent with the Raiders. In 236 WHL contests, he has compiled 92 goals and 100 assists for 192 points.
